$10,000 Steve Sullivan Scholarship

In 2009, Junior Achievement established a Scholarship Fund to honor the dedication and commitment of former Board Chair and 20-year board member, Steve Sullivan.  Mr. Sullivan had a noteworthy career, working as Senior Vice President Communications, Liberty Mutual Group, Boston, until his retirement in February 2009.

In 2021, the $10,000 scholarship award will be presented to two (2) high school students – a current high school junior and a college-bound senior who best represent the goals and mission of Junior Achievement through successful participation in JA programs. The junior student recipient will also be named the Junior Achievement of Northern New England Student of the Year, with the expectation that they will be engaged with JA and are college-bound by the end of their senior year.

In addition to presenting the scholarship to a junior and senior this year, 3-5 strong junior applicant finalists will become JA Ambassadors and will receive $2,000 each. They will be asked to speak at various events, programs, Board meetings, and more. We are grateful to Steve and his wife for continuing their commitment to making college more affordable to JA's stellar students.

To be eligible for the scholarship a student must meet the following criteria:

Students must meet ONE of the following criteria:

  • First in their immediate family to go to college.
  • English is not their first language.
